Dr Devon Gaston’s journey to becoming a sports chiropractor has been described as being chosen for the profession. Dr. Devon was first introduced to chiropractic as a patient as a result of years of chronic pain due to medically misdiagnosed herniated discs and sciatica resulting from a serious car accident. “Chiropractic literally gave me my life back.” She was determined to give back to the profession by attending and graduating from Atlanta’s Life University chiropractic school, receiving magna cum laude status. She also pursued additional training and graduated with summa cum laude status with a Masters in Sport Health Science, specializing in sports chiropractic and biomechanics. In the 2013/2014 season, she was an associate chiropractor working with Life University’s National Champion Division I and Super League (USA’s professional level) rugby team, the Running Eagles.
Dr Gaston is a member of the International Association for Functional Neurology Research (IAFNR) and is currently working on her diplomate in Functional Neurology, studying under Dr Brandon Brock and Dr Datis Kharrazian. She has successfully treating multiple patients with vertigo and symptoms from Post Concussive Disorder/Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). She herself had a severe TBI at the end of 2014 and has been able to rehabilitate her own brain through chiropractic care and functional neurology.
Prior to chiropractic, she was a personal trainer and nutritionist for 10 years, leading fitness boot camps on the beach and in her own studio in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. A Granite Bay, California native, she was a dancer for 15 years; performing while receiving her degree in Kinesiology at Sacramento State and in Sacramento’s own “Best of Broadway” series. She also has years of experience coaching gymnastics and dance. She is passionate about living vitalistically, helping others achieve optimal health and speaking about the evidence-based, healing art and science that is chiropractic.
